Safer Phosphates' scientific partner Opera Research Center announces the upcoming publication of its White Book, followed by an interactive webinar held on 17November at 2.30 pm, with EURACTIV as a media partner.
In November 2021, the OPERA Research Center will publish a scientific paper, the White Book, assessing the impacts of cadmium on ecosystem services, agri-food and health in Europe.
The paper, which will have been peer-reviewed by the scientific community, aims to provide a comprehensive examination of cadmium, from its toxic and carcinogenic nature to its dangerous ability, through fertilizer use, to contaminate our soils, and ultimately, the food chain. The White Book will also address how European fertilizer policy reflects the cadmium issue, highlighting legislative gaps and the urgent call for action. It will also complement the discussions in the framework of the expected Commission Communication on the EU Soil Strategy.
On 17November, a webinar will be held to push the discussion even further, bringing together a panel of representatives from the scientific, academic and policy-making fields. Safer Phosphates looks forward to participating in the debates and sharing its point of view on the promotion of clean phosphates.
